Jersey Numbers

Here following are the jersey numbers we know. If you have a request please mention it in the comment section.
AND if you don't want a jersey DON'T REQUEST A NUMBER!!! People with jerseys have numbers. If you don't have a jersey, you can't tape a number on your generic practise jersey.
Numbers are given to people who are willing to pay for a TEAM jersey. This is Korea, when you're part of team you all have to wear the same uniform or else everything breaks apart.

Something Ado about Money

Something Ado about Money

The teams are made, the sides have been chosen and the ice times have been booked. This tournament is well on its way but wait.all good times entail a certain degree of costs. In this case, the cost to green light this tourney is approximately 2 550 281 won. This includes three 3 hour ice times, 1 regular ice time, a scoreboard for all games, a tourney party, a referee and a trophy. At 42 players, we could technically cover our costs if everyone paid 65 000 won but if more than 2 out 42 players decide to not show up for the tourney (a strong possibility considering our past tourney no-shows) then we are now in the red. So, we are setting the tournament fee at 75 000 won. This will include a minimum of 4 games for every player and 5 for the best two teams, a party with food and drink and your name engraved on the tourney trophy (if you win.) If you break it down, the tourney's third place teams' personal costs would be 4 games for 60 bucks (at normal shinny price), food and drink for only 15. For the tourney first and second place finishers it would be 5 games for 75 bucks (at normal shinny price) and a free dinner. All in all, its a pretty good deal.

You must pay your entry fee BEFORE you step on the ice for your first game. Please don't make us run-around town trying to collect tourney money. If a player hasn't paid by game two he/she will be disqualified from the remainder of the tourney. Captains it is your responsibility to pick up the money for your team. We need 75 from everyone that is 1 050 000 won per team (75x14 players). Please note that if you play one game or you play 5, it is the same price. Of course, some exceptions can be made but none that swell of booze or broken alarm clocks. The profit for this tourney will either be put towards a bigger party, put back in the kitty or maybe go towards a team trip. Who knows? What is certain is that all profits made go towards sustaining your Chiefs and your ice times.

On a side note: Captains, your duties will also demand that you make a roster list for every game. This list should include the names and numbers of each player (real names and numbers on the jersey.) A copy should be given to the ref (who will then pass it on to the scoreboard dude so they can keep game stats). Every player should wear a Chiefs red (home) or white (away) jersey during the tourney. If you dont have one, we will provide a stinky one for you. Nobody should wear practice jerseys.

A Great day for a BAR-beque !

Saturday September 23rd marked the third bbq "Fun'd" raiser for the Chiefs, and I must say that it went very well for those in attendance, and the Chief's kitty.
The gates were opened early, as Terry entered at 1:39pm. He was so conserned on getting his team just right, he wanted to make a full surveillance of the drafting area before his opposing captains. Big D would soon follow, as would Louis, Rene and then the gates were wide open with a sea of Chiefs. And these Chiefs were thirsty and hungry!
"Spark's Bar" would sell over 200 drinks and made a whopping 60 grand in tips. I was on the grill, as long as I could take the heat on my hands. (man those burgers make some flame!) We sold a lot of burgers, dogs and souvlaki. Putting out the garbage and recyclable the next day, took a few trips for Spark and I.
The auction went on a little later than planned, but it did go very, very well. We did not have the great photos or certificates that Killer put together in bbq's of past, however with the help of donations we managed to raise a good sum of won.
I am pleased to say that the Chief's kitty is sitting well over a grand in the black. We paid 451 000 September 24th to bring us up to date for all ice times and locker fees, and we are currently sitting at approximately one point five million won. That's what I call a sucsessful barbecue!
We would not be looking at those figures if we did not have A LOT of help from fellow Chiefs and Chief's friends. I would like to say a big thanks to all who showed up , and especially those who picked up items for us and for all those who donated time or items. Clay, Isaiah, Paul Novak, Angelo, Terry, Aaron Allinson, Tommy, Rene, and if I forgot someone...thanks a bunch.
Our place is back to normal now, and all went very well.
thank you

Tbone # 3 .....now watch out for the MOKDONG MANGLERS!!!

DROP THAT PUCK!!!!

To whom it may concern,

The administration would like to extend our deepest apologies to all players who did not make it on the teams. For some, we ran out of room and for others, we repeatedly asked you to contact us so we could hold a proper draft and when we didn't hear anything we dropped some players and picked up others who were on the sub-list. We are sorry for this inconvenience and please note that we will have 4 shinny ice times in October and you are more than welcome to show-up for those anytime you desire. We'll be holding another tourney in the Spring - hopefully we'll see you in that one. Thank you for your understanding.

The Fall Tourney is now FULL

GAME ON!!!

The tourney is now FULL!!!!

42 players have registered for the tournament starting October 15th. There is still a significant possibility that one, two or more players will bail before the Saturday draft time so if you arent on the list sign up anyways because there is a good chance a roster spot will open come Saturday. This said, once the draft has started there will be NO NEW players accepted in the tourney. Once this thing is running it will go to the end.

The draft order has yet to be decided. I believe we will have small a useless-skill competition to determine the draft order. The draft will be held at the BBQ. Renes Team is the MOKDONG MANGLERS. Tommys Team is yet to be named (Team B. ) Terrys team, also yet to be named, is Team C. The schedule is posted in a previous post on this blog but the time slots are still unknown.

Dear Captains:

The Chiefs Hockey Insider would like to present to you The Chiefs TOP*GUNS

1. 'Shifty Feet' Jack (F) He can set up anyone from anywhere and if he ever decides to shoot he usually finds a hole. He has the best vision of any Chief. His biggest knock is he always looks to pass at the expense of shooting.

2. Corry 'Devil Head' Day (F) He is highly skilled and can do pretty much anything out there in Chiefs hockey. The only knock on him is he seems to need someone with skills on his line.

3. Aaron 'Animal' Geddes (F) Has a very good shot when he hits the net. He tries to pick corners, which causes him to miss the net far too many times. But hes the only one who could probably snap it from the blue line and score. Since Tyler isnt in this pool, hes your best sniper.

4. Hee 'Hai' Joon (D) Hes the toughest D we have. He has a bundle of energy and never lets up. He also has a nice low shot but he never shoots. The only knock on him is he doesnt understand the Western Game.

Group II GUNS is enormous and counts just about most chiefs. If you are interested it will cost you a beer at the BBQ. You can't go wrong with most players in this group.

Group III GUNS is where the draft will be won. Here is where lies the difference maker.

Group IV GUNS. This group is very deceiving. You really need to know everyone inside and out in order to com out on top here. Some are much better than others and even more have made major improvements in the past year.

Hmmm...bring it on people!!! Playing for keeps here!!!

The tournament will of course be won with the core and whoever picks the best core will win this tourney. The bookies are favoring Tommy to come out on top in this one but its a close battle. Goalies you are the KEY to your teams success. If you suck as drafters or, more importantly, if you arent ready between the pipes you are going to HEAR IT!! You guys best be bringing your best game out there because, on paper, this is the highest level tourney weve hadthe latter statement is in direct correlation with who everyone on the unknown list is and if Hee-Joon and Jakes friends are fellow ex-uni. players.

Up for grabs:

1. The yet to be named Cup - Every single winner will be given an entire 15 minutes of personal time with the cup to do whatever pleases him/her.

2. The Tournament MVP

3. The Highest Points Getter

4. The Best Goalie - This is huge because the best goalie will probably win this tournament.

::::::::::::::::::NEXT ORDER OF BUSINESS:::::::::::::::::::::

Next up, we need information on a few players in order to have a proper draft.

Matt Bell , according to puck bunny #6, can do everything on there. played Junior C. He's a group II free Agent
Wayne CONTACT THE CHIEFS PLEASE
DJ Sherman CONTACT THE CHIEFS PLEASE
Park Jang Yeon CONTACT THE CHIEFS PLEASE
Daniel S. says" I can do those things OK and I have played organized hockey a bit."
Jacks Friends rumor was wrong his three friends will probably be Group I free agents.
HeeJoons F#1 OUT
HeeJoons F#2 OUT
Kims Friend OUT

We need you to answer a few questions. We want to make sure our teams are as even as possible (of course, with an edge going to my teamGo everyone on my Team!!) so we need to know how good you are. If you could answer the following questions it would make the tournament a lot more fun for everyone.

2.
Can you skate backwards?
3.
Can you turn both sides?

Shooting
4.
Can you lift the puck?

Your New CHIEFS' jerseys

Trevor's Bro. has been hard at work designing our new Chiefs' jerseys and ...... AGAIN, he has come through for us. Those are some mint looking jerseys!! All that's left to do is to choose which one we want. You can vote for your preference in the poll on the right side of this page. While you're there why don't you vote in the 'Name that Tourney Poll'...

There are a few additions that will be made to the jerseys such as
1. A new Sponsor will go on our left shoulder
2. Your Country Flag and a Korean Flag will go on your right shoulder (you will probably have to add that yourself but we'll see)
3. A 'Seoul, South Korea' (in Korean will be added under the new Chiefs insignia)

4. Tbone will think of something

So...you are voting for either the RED/blue set (more red) or the BLUE/red set (mo' blue)

On a side note, in the comments section write what you would like to order one.
Name (on jersey) Number (1 dark and 1 white)

Btw, only 11 spots left in the tourney. Better sign up soon if you haven't already. Registration will close at the BBQ

GAME with Inchon

The Inchon IceHole's will be at the Mokdong ice rink September 24th, from 9am to 10:30 am, to take on the home town team, RMT Chiefs. Tickets are going fast for this event. Inchon is seen as the favorite as of late, but the Chiefs should be full of energy after a huge barbecue feast the night before. The Chiefs are looking for a win, however the IceHoles just may have something to say about that. There will be a meet and greet after the game. Bring your pens and cameras, this will be a great chance for you to get an autograph and photo with some of your favorite beer league stars.
The chances for the Chiefs to show up hung over is looking good. Inchon..not so good..Although Jessie, their goalie will be I bet! haha
All that said.... Who wants to play ...?!! I do I do!!

Other News: Don't forget about signing up for the fall tournament, and bbq Saturday at 1:59.

Who's In???

We are now opening registration for the tourney.

WE ARE FULL!!!!!!

but
some people may bail so we will now start a sub list....actually, i'm almost positive some people will bail. Still, the green light for the draft this Saturday has been given. Captains, it is now time to think of drafting strategy. We will fill you in on who's who as best we can in coming posts.

If you want to play you should register in the comment section. You will need to write your name and desired position (F, D or G).
We don't have the actual ice times as of yet so keep in mind that it could be a three hour block anytime between 7am and 2pm. We have booked the three hour block but they could not give us our actual ice times as of yet.

For those of you who STILL don't know how to
leave a comment on this blog, here following is an easy to follow 5 steps instructional guide:

1. Click on "comment"
2. (a little window pops-up)
3. Write your comment
4. Where it says 'Choose an identity'... pick 'Anonymous'
5. Click on 'publish post'

and voila! technology at it's best.
Of course, everyone and anyone are welcome to join this tournament.

But take note, this will be a competitive tournament and the pace will be much faster than our Sunday shinny times. Players will not be given any chances with the puck. There will be no free breakaways. It will be rougher. It's still amongst friends and there will be no real contact and there will be no fighting but everyone will be playing to win. I just mention this so people who register know that if you are a high level player, a low level player, if you can skate like the wind or haven't learned to stop....it's all the same: people will knock you on your arse!! But then again, with two games in a row maybe half the team will be crouched over the garbage can...

::::::::::Registered Players::::::::::::

A Battle in Chiefs Land: An Update

We have now received confirmation of our ice times for the tourney. We couldn't secure any Saturday ice times but we did come through with option 3: a three hour ice time on Sunday, which puts the tourney format as follows...

Sunday, October 15th.

Game One
Team A vs Team B

Game Two
Team A vs Team C

Sunday, October 22nd.

Game Three
Team B vs. Team C

Game Four
Team B vs Team A

Sunday, October 29th.

Game Five
Team C vs Team A

Game Six
Team C vs Team B

Sunday, November 5th.
The Finals

Team 1 vs Team 2

The team highlighted in red is the home team and therefore has the home rink advantages in those games (such as last change, face-offs, puck bunnies, etc)

Each game will be three 20 minutes periods, running time. This will give us 30 minutes for the Zamboni, the warm-up/late arrivals and a short overtime period.

As you can see from the schedule each team will play two back to back games. Also each team will have one early and one later game.

This will be a point format tourney.
W=two points,
T=one point,
L=a big fat ZERO
OTL=a very disappointing big fat ZERO
There are NO penalty shots to decide this tourney!!!

If there is a tie between the last two teams...well, we would like to see things settled with a golden goal...sweet, sweet overtime!! So our final game is supposed to be two hours long so we will play the first bit till first goal between those two teams...then we'll play the finals. Now that's competition....one goal wins, damn. and then the other team has to take their gear off....haha man that would suck. hope it's you not me!!!
If all three teams are tied then one team will automatically advance on goal differential.

We will have ref(s). A note on the ref(s), we don't know how good/bad they will be but as long as they are consistent then it'll be fair. We'll make sure the captains and the refs are on the same page when it comes to rules. We would also like to have only the captains assistant captains talk to the refs (like a real game)...just to keep the abuse to a minimal. We would like to have the same refs for all the games and if everyone starts screaming obscenities at them they could easily just quit...

So that's all the news for now
Go git ya'self some balls' We 'bout to get it on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

::::::::::::::::::::::NEWS FLASH::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Captains:
Whoever picks Rene will be Team A
Whoever picks Tommy will be Team B
Whoever picks Terry will be Team C

The Hockey Insider has just found that Terry 'the Glove' will not be able to make it on the 22nd due to a scheduled meeting with 'The King'. Therefore, a player from Team C will HAVE TO SUIT UP for the game on the 22nd. An interesting twist to the tourney....perhaps even a TSN Turning Point. When questioned about this unfortunate news a tribal Chief was quoted as saying: "There's nothing we can do about it! Just deal with it! The captains and everyone knows what they're getting into before the draft!"

A Question of Names
The upcoming fall tourney is still without a name. We are asking anybody who knows how to use the comments section (Stevey H.) to post a suggestion. Let's christen this tourney!!

A Sunday in Brief

A Sunday in Brief

What a Sunday!! What a Sunday Hockey Fans!! We had a great skate last Sunday filled with tape on tape passes, beauty one on ones and some thoughtful positioning all thanks to a slick hard and bump less ice surfacewell, its always nice to dream a little.

Back to the lands of reality, the morning skate got off to a slow start as many scramblers came in late; the winning combo of markentbone found their way to the rink just in time to lace up their skates for the last hard fought 30 minutes of play - you gotta give it to them for showing up with just two hours of sleep in them. Three university players also came out. They played well and sped the game up a little. They were also kind enough to give us older folk a break here and therewell, everywhere. As for the actual game, it was one of the best Sunday skates in a long time. Lexi deeked the pants out of one of the uni kids. She also held her own in a one on one face-off battle against Tom. It was definitely a mix of inspired and hurtin people out there but it was nice to see people trying to get a few skates in before the tourney. The Mighty Whites came on strong in the first half of the game but the late arrivals balanced the teams out a tad. Still, I believe the Whites did win this one mostly thanks to Allons speed bursts and wicked shot. Our goalies for the day were Rene and Terry. I am not sure who won the match-up but I think Rene held onto a slight edge to win the goalie competition. What was on the line again? an Elvis costume? The final score was 3 to 2 for team Whiteonly goalies keep score after 5.

A point of mention, since our ice times are presently an hour and a half long it would be great if we could cut down our warm-up time from 30 minutes to something like 10. Of course, everyone, especially goalies, would need to start showing up at least 10 minutes before the Zammy hits the ice on the hour. We waste a lot of our game time just fooling around at the beginning of our ice time.

Three Stars:

1. Lexi for deeking the pants off one of the uni kids.

2. Rene for holding his own

3. Markentbone for showing up for the last 30

More Information on the tourney will be posted when we know more. Check out your emails for registration and personal waiver forms. They should be sent out as soon as we can confirm our ice times. The goal is to have everyone who wants to play registered before the BBQ so the captains can draft their teams during the BBQ.

The Chiefs fantasy hockey pool is still open for registration. We will also be drafting our teams during the BBQ.

There is NO ice time this Sunday but we do have a Scavenger Hunt on Saturday in Itaewon. All interested parties should email Tbone ASAP because the teams are filling up quickly. Our two representative teams will be sporting Mighty White and Evil Red. Make us Proud!!!

Well that be all the news for today.

See you at the Party next Saturday, the 23rd.
